This set of surveys, conducted in the final months of 2003, was designed to capture the state of the Democratic presidential primary race at a critical juncture—just weeks before the first votes were cast in the Iowa Caucuses and New Hampshire Primary in January 2004. The data provides a vital snapshot of Democratic voter preferences, name recognition, and the key issues driving the primary electorate. It reflects the dynamic and fluid nature of the race to select a nominee to challenge incumbent Republican President George W. Bush in the general election.
