Conducted March 17–26, 2016, N=2,254 adults.

RDD design using both landlines and cell phones.

Includes cell-only households and dual users.

Weights:

WEIGHT → for combined landline + cell sample (standard for Pew reporting).

LLWEIGHT → for landline-only analysis (excludes cell phone interviews).

CELLWEIGHT → for cell-only analysis (excludes landline interviews).

Geographic Coding:

Since 2008, Pew derives region/state/county from self-reported ZIP codes (more reliable than sample frame data).

If ZIP not provided/unmatched → fall back to sample frame info.

Original sample geography variables (prefix s) are preserved for archival use only.

Privacy Protections:

Telephone numbers, county of residence, and ZIP codes removed.
