Mode: Random digit dial (RDD), landline + cell phone interviews.

Weights:

WEIGHT – combined sample of landline + cell.

LLWEIGHT – landline-only sample.

CELLWEIGHT – cell-only sample.

Geographic coding: Based on self-reported ZIP codes since Fall 2008; original sample-based geographic variables (prefixed with “s”) retained only for archival purposes.

Privacy protections: Phone numbers, ZIP codes, and county of residence removed.

Questionnaire note: Q.81 and Q.82 rotated by form; topline results reported only for the form that received the item first (Form 1 for Q81, Form 2 for Q82). Replication requires using split form data.

Constructed demographic variables:

racecmb – combined race categories.

racethn – combined race/ethnicity categories (White non-Hispanic, Black non-Hispanic, Hispanic, Other).
