Sample & Methodology:

N=1,503 adults, April 25 – May 1, 2018.

Dataset includes RDD sample only (excludes RBS).

Conducted via landline and cell phone RDD.

Includes cell-only households and households with both cell + landline.

Weights:

WEIGHT → for combined landline + cell sample (use for most Pew reports).

CELLWEIGHT → for cell sample only (excludes landline cases).

Geographic Coding:

Since Fall 2008, Pew generates region/state/county from self-reported ZIP codes (more reliable than sample-based info).

If ZIP not provided or unmatched → sample-based info used.

Original sample geography variables (prefixed s) are retained for archival purposes only.

Privacy Protections:

Telephone numbers, county, and ZIP codes removed.
